Email Spam and Virus Filtering Using Barracuda
Networks Technology
Due to the growing
threat of annoying SPAM and damaging VIRUS borne e-mails, Barracuda Networks
protection is included with every SLA. With the Barracuda Spam Filter,
SPAM and VIRUSES are scrubbed from your e-mail BEFORE they hit your servers and
network. This adds another crucial layer of
protection to ensure your network is spam and virus free!
FAQ's:
Q. I'm on the service, and there is still some spam coming through.
What can I do?
A. Once your Barracuda Spam and Virus filtering service has been activated,
you will receive a link to
their quarantine home page. Here, you can reset your password, add and
delete allowed and blocked domains and e-mail addresses, and tighten or
loosen the level at which spam is removed. To tighten or loosen the
spam filtering do the following: 1) Go to preferences 2) Spam Settings
3) Change "user system defaults" to "NO". Using the slide bars at the
bottom of the page, increase or decrease the tag, quarantine and block settings.
Higher=less security and more spam will be allowed, Lower=more security and
less spam will be allowed.
Q. Nothing is showing up in my quarantine inbox. How can I view all
the SPAM being filtered from my e-mail?
A. By default, blocking is set to 5.5. This means that if your SPAM
e-mail falls above a 5.5 rating it will be bounced back to the sender
without your knowledge. At your quarantine home page: 1) Go to
preferences 2) Spam Settings 3) Change "user system defaults" to "NO".
4) Change "Block score" to "10". This will bring all of
your SPAM into your quarantine inbox.
Q. How do I add/delete/modify addresses on my account?
A. Once your account has been activated, please send all change requests to
support@ics-america.com

Q. I forgot my quarantine inbox password. What do I do?

http://barracuda.ics-america.com.com:8000/cgi-bin/index.cgi
Type in your user name (your e-mail
address) and click "Create New Password". Your password will be
e-mailed to you within a few minutes:
Q. Why does [BULK] appear in the subject line of some of my incoming
e-mails?
A. The Barracuda uses a scoring system to determine if an item is spam.
It scores all emails on a scale from 0 to 9; emails with higher scores are
more likely to be spam. If the score is greater than X but less than Y, the
message is considered "maybe spam", so "[BULK]" is added to the subject line
and it is delivered. If the score is greater than Y, the message is
considered spam and not delivered (but is still stored, and can be released
by logging in to the barracuda).
These variables X and Y can be set on a per-domain basis. By default,
X=3.5 and Y=5.5. If you want the "[BULK]" tags to be removed, X
can be set to 5.5 as well; this way all currently "maybe spam" messages will
in the future be considered legitimate. The tradeoff for having the
[BULK] tag removed from legitimate messages that might be spam is that it
will also allow more actual spam to go through without being marked.
